Mack Strong

Mack Strong has been working as the Pacific West Director of the Legends Program for the National Football League since 2013. He played for the Seattle Seahawks as a fullback for 14+ years from 1993 to 2007. As a professional athlete, Mack was known to inspire people both on the field and off the field. Former Seahawk Coach Mike Holmgren is quoted as saying, “Mack is one of the greatest men I’ve been around…great teammate, great leader.” Mack has received numerous awards and accolades during his NFL career, including the Unsung Hero award (2001, 2002) and the Ed Block courage award (2001). He is also the only multiple recipient of the Steve Largent Award, which he has won five times (2001, 2002, 2004, 2005, 2006). Mack was voted twice to the Pro Bowl and once to the All-Pro Team in 2005; as well, he had the incredible opportunity to be a major contributor to the Seahawks journey to Super Bowl XL. Mack retired in 2007 after a career ending neck injury. His expertise allowed him to transition from a player to the Seahawks’ media team as a sports analyst.

During his playing career, Mack and his wife, Dr. Zoe Higheagle Strong, started The Mack Strong TEAM-WORK Foundation, a non-profit. The Foundation, which lasted from 2002 to 2020, was rooted in their commitment to help youth across the northwest become leaders by developing strong minds, strong bodies, and strong character. Their aim was to assist students in succeeding academically and in life. Their programs served over 350 students annually through after school programs, in school mentor programs, and summer sports and leadership camps.

Their outstanding commitment to enhancing the lives of children in their community and beyond earned Mack and Zoë several awards including the 2009 Mark Matthews Service to Children

Award, 2011 Washingtonian of the Year award from the Association of Washington Generals, and

the 2012 Seattle Indian Health Board’s Adeline Garcia Community Service Award.

Mack’s favorite past time is enjoying quality time with his wife and their two sons, Isaiah and Evan, and swinging the club at the golf course.
