Trans* Membership Policies

WSU must comply with Title IX, which is a law that prohibits sex discrimination. Title IX exempts social fraternities and sororities from its prohibition against sex discrimination in membership practices and allows for single-sex organizations. Several social fraternities and sororities have independently clarified that their membership opportunities extend to members of the trans* community.

Center for Fraternity and Sorority Life has compiled information on current chapter policies regarding Trans* members. This list will be updated as new information is made public to the CFSL by the inter/national organizations.

If your organization would like to submit updated information, please reach out to greek.life@wsu.edu

Note: These policies were pulled from public websites and are reflective of the policies are current to the best of our ability as of 9/14/18.

Fraternity and sorority chapter facilities are not owned, operated, nor managed by Washington State University. Each chapter facility and Greek letter organization is controlled by its respective national organization, local chapter and/or housing corporation. Students and families should familiarize themselves with the policies and culture of each organization prior to joining.
